Lynam Bombshell CoverWith 6 studio albums out and one live album, Lynam from Birmingham, Alabama are back with their new EP Bombshell from New Ocean Media! I was able to pick the 5 track new release CD up at Rock n’ Skull before it goes on sale to the public. Even though I already had a couple of their CD’s in my collection, I was still not very familiar with Lynam but from recognizing Bunton on the Monsters Of Rock Cruises, I was looking forward to seeing him live with Lynam.

Lynam started out in 2001 and consists of original members David Lynam (drums/vocals) and Jacob Bunton (vocals/guitar). Mark Dzier (bass/vocals) has been in the band since 2002 with a break in 2011, coming back in 2013 and Lonny Paul (guitar/vocals) who joined in 2013. Bunton and Paul have been touring with former Guns n’ Roses drummer Steven Adler‘s new project, Adler.

The Rock n’ Skull show was full of energy and a crowd favorite with many followers of this band. They proved they were a great fit for Rock n’ Skull and I am sure they have made some new fans. Myself included.

Back to the new CD starting with the title track “Bombshell”. Right from the first beat it sounds like The Doors but not long after that it comes full tilt to kick into high gear. Less than 3 minutes of pure rock. Continuing on with “Flick My Switch (You Turn Me On)” has Bunton going full force into another rocking tune. “Send You Back” is next and a well-written track with different textures and musical styles. When seeing this band live you would think more 80’s sound but this track shows the maturity of the band and a newer style of rock. “The Worst In Me” is a fun catchy track showcasing a little Joan Jett influence with “I Hate Myself For Loving You”. This could easily be a radio hit if given the opportunity. “What’s Left?” Another great track to finish this 5 song EP. This leaves the listener wanting more and hoping there is a lot left in this rocking band.

Overall a great CD but way too short. I sure hope they follow up with a full-length album soon. If you get a chance to see Lynam in concert then don’t hesitate. They are full of energy and give it everything they’ve got on stage.
