Albums Unleashed Poison Look What the Cat Dragged In with Rikki Rockett – Ep276

Rikki Rockett joins the guys this week for Albums Unleashed Poison Look What the Cat Dragged In. In this long-form discussion, Rikki shares stories from the early days of Poison including the decision to move from Pennsylvania to Hollywood in the early 1980’s. Also in the episode, Rikki talks about the departure of original guitarist Matt Smith and an audition process that would go down to a head to head battle between Slash and CC DeVille.

In this Albums Unleashed Poison Look What the Cat Dragged In special, Rikki reflects on the recording process of the album. Producer Rick Browde was on board early for the sessions but things got tense quickly due to creative differences. In this episode, Rikki also discusses the struggle to survive in a Hollywood scene that was very unforgiving. Those struggles would be played out lyrically in some of the songs. While the album was recorded on a meager budget and on limited time, it would go on to spawn three big singles and sell 4 million copies worldwide.

I love hearing the back stories to one of the most historic albums of my life. I’m still curious to know if Jimmy’s Bar and Grill is still open for business.

My first album my mom bought me with hesitation . And when she found out they were guys and not girls from the album she threw it in the trash so when we went to church Sunday I skipped it went to Kmart and stole the tape and listen to it nonstop right don’t know how long
