Finnish AOR exponents Brother Firetribe are set to release their brand new album on March 23, 2017.

Entitled Sunbound the disc will be available via Spinefarm Records.

Here’s their back story.

Infectious, contagious, feel-good hook-laden melodic rock with flash and balls. That’s Brother Firetribe for you.  An AOR band from Finland, Brother Firetribe was founded in 2002. Influenced by the glory days of such stadium rock giants as Journey and Van Halen coupled with the glam of such acts as Skid Row, Brother Firetribe (the name is a silly in-joke involving a Finnish tennis player) signed a deal with Spinefarm Records in 2005, and dropped its 1st album – simply titled False Metal in June 2006. Well received both critically and commercially in Finland, the band was unable to tour, with guitarist Emppu Vuorinen being part of Finnish rock legends Nightwish and vocalist Pekka Heino a member of his then-band Leverage.

However, Brother Firetribe didn’t loll about and dropped their 2nd album, Heart Full of Fire in 2008 with its title track featuring Nightwish siren Anette Olzon. The album was re-released later the same year as Break Out in the UK. So productive was the unit at the time that a mere month after the release of Heart Full of Fire they already served a dessert for the AOR aficionados in the form of Heart Full of Fire… and Then Some MCD, an EP spearheaded by the album’s title track and rounded out by unreleased material.
.
After two well-received albums, the Helsinki Heartbreakers embarked on their 1st European tour in early 2009, supporting Swedish metallers Pain. With their live act honed to perfection all over Europe, the band shot their hometown show at the prestigious Apollo Live Club on video. Finally, along with a light-hearted documentary filmed during their adventure across Europe, in February of 2010 the band released their 1st live recording, the Live at Apollo DVD, capturing their unbridled joy of performing in front of hometown fans, and – of course – featuring a guest performance in “Heart Full of Fire” by their midnite queen, Anette Olzon.
.
Soon after, guitarist Vuorinen again embarked the ever-moving Nightwish machine and the Tribesmen retreated back to their fort to work on new songs. This silent spell in 2013 saw the band re-upping their recording deal with Spinefarm Records/Universal Music and receiving their 1st Gold Record, for the Heart Full of Fire album.
.
Making the 3rd album proved to be an effort of Olympic proportions but eventually worth all the sweat and beers spilled. Diamond in the Firepit stormed the Finnish album charts at #7 and lingered within the Top50 for 12 weeks. Even a tad better fared the album’s leading single “For Better and For Worse”, staying on Finnish the radio charts for 16 weeks. The song still gets the odd spin on Finnish rock radios after two years and having racked up north of 1200 plays.
.
After years of repeated invitations, finally Diamond in the Firepit paved way for the band to perform at Britain’s prestigious AOR/hard rock jubilee FireFest on October 26th, 2014, in the legendary, 11th and final installation of FireFest.
.
After another albeit a bit shorter spell of silence due to Emppu’s Nightwish job, new buzz around The ‘Tribe started to mount in February of 2016, when a series of TV commercials by one of Finland’s leading supermarkets, Prisma, surfaced featuring an uplifting fight song ready to give anything you’ve ever heard in any Rocky movie a run for its money. Sure enough, the explosive anthem was the new Brother Firetribe single “Taste Of A Champion”, which saw its official release in September, seven months after its initial introduction, immediately assaulting the top of Finnish radio, download and viral charts.
.
Having used the most of the ending of 2016 gearing up for future activities and – believe it or not, designing their own burger for a Tampere, Finland –based restaurant, March 24th, 2017 is now the date to look forward to. It is the start of not only the era of the shiny new album Sunbound, but a flurry of all sorts of Brother Firetribe activity.
