Andrew Jacobs here,

Although my last post was a bit of a tongue in cheek response to Wally’s “Buried Treasure – BOD!” post, I do think that his idea of showcasing overlooked albums is a damn good one, so I figured that I’d post a serious one.

As you’re all well aware at this point, I’m a HUGE Steve Jones fan.  His work in the Sex Pistols alone makes him one of my favorite guitarists and songwriters of all time.  In the late 1980s, Jones decided to go full bore hard rock with his second solo album, 1989’s Fire And Gasoline.  He even invited a bunch of ’80s rock stars along for the ride, including Axl Rose (vocals on a cover of the Pistols’ “I Did U No Wrong”), Nikki Sixx (co-writer of “We’re Not Saints”), Ian Astbury (the album’s co-producer, one of it’s backing vocalists and co-writer of my favorite song on the album, “Leave Your Shoes On”) and Billy Duffy (guitarist on “Get Ready”).  This is a flat out rocker from start to finish and it’s truly a shame that it was so overlooked.  I’ve included a video below for “Freedom Fighter”, one of the strongest songs on the album.
