Cloven Hoof is a premium aged rum imported from Guyana & Trinidad and blended with a mysterious concoction of natural spices. A proud supporter of British Rock Music, Cloven Hoof has gained a big following in the UK’s rock music scene.

A week or so ago I found myself in London, UK. It was a “make the best of a bad situation” deal, where I was unable to obtain refunds for trans-Atlantic flights after a festival was canceled on short notice. A friend (also in a similar situation) and I decided to spend a few days together in London instead. Now even though we have not known each other for an extreme amount of time, this person has become one of my better and most trusted friends. She has yet to steer me overly wrong on anything from music to food to alcohol. And many recommendations are bang on the money.

Even so, when she mentioned a rum called Cloven Hoof, I was skeptical. You see, I’m not a liquor drinker, beer only in this trim physique! Although from time to time I have been known to enjoy a rum and coke (too many) during dart tournaments labeled “The Rum Cup”. But that was years ago. This young lady informed me that we would be attending The World’s End Pub in Camden for a meet and greet information setting with Cloven Hoof creator Paul Stanley (not the KISS member). Having sampled the product at an event and also purchasing a bottle, she became an investor in the company, so this was more than introducing me to it. A few other folks were in attendance, all quite obviously lovers of this rum that I had yet to experience.

Paul was quite friendly and personable as he explained some of his future plans for Cloven Hoof, happily answering questions as they arose. Not being a liquor drinker, I hesitated in sampling the taste that Paul prepared of Cloven Hoof’s second product, Over Hoof. This newest version is distilled longer, I believe, to remove more of the water, raising the alcohol percentage. Raising it to 66.6% actually! Strong stuff and I nearly gagged. Not for me, thank goodness I had a frosty cold beer handy to assist me. Thinking that this was to be the first blemish on her record, I tried to hold my composure. Let’s face it, I don’t enjoy liquor at all, so she was up against a tough wall here.

Now extremely skeptical and rather adverse, to be honest, I sampled Paul‘s offering of the original blend. ABSOLUTELY LIQUID GOLD! Instantly in love as it glided smoothly down my throat. Sweet, with none of that overpowering gag-inducing liquor burn that normally turns me off. I am now a potential investor in the Cloven Hoof Rum as I strongly believe in the product. Currently only available in the UK, I’m still working on quite how to get some here in Toronto. A premium aged rum imported from Guyana & Trinidad and blended with a mysterious concoction of natural spices. Cloven Hoof was created by pub landlord Paul Stanley. He blended quality base rums in the pub kitchen, experimenting with flavors. Paul stumbled across a blend he loved – it was so popular with the pub regulars that he felt compelled to go to market.

Cloven Hoof is a blend of two quality aged rums; a darker rum from the Diamond Distillery in Guyana and a lighter aged rum from Trinidad Distillers. These rums are imported into the UK and then blended and spiced.

The brand is an irreverent play on the devil and has gained a big following in the UK’s rock music scene, with many bands and a number of festivals including Planet Rock, Ramblin’ Man and Steelhouse embracing the product, the ethos and quite literally RAISING THE HOOF.

Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum was launched in Oct 2016, establishing itself as one of the fastest growing spiced rums in the UK. In a market now worth over £1b, YOY sales are up over 171% in 2018 (EBITDA -£16,410). The company’s second product Over Hoof was launched in Mar 2018 and sold out in 6 weeks.
