Decibel Geek Wants YouDecibel Geek is a great website for fans of rock and metal music featuring weekly podcast episodes, upcoming album releases, photo galleries, YouTube videos as well as album/concert reviews and commentaries. Check us out at www.decibelgeek.com, find and like us on Facebook to join in on the discussion.

Do you have a love of hard rock and heavy metal music? Looking for a fun music related hobby? Interested in getting more involved? Here’s your chance to become a part of the Decibel Geek team. At Decibel Geek, we are all about keeping the music alive and while these are not paid positions (we actually don’t make any profit ourselves but are here for the love of the music) there are other perks that may be available down the road.

We are seeking dynamic individuals to assist in the following positions:

Interviewers:

Are you inquisitive? Interview opportunities often offered to Decibel Geek for the website from bands around the world. Many of the bands are smaller or perhaps lesser known, so you will need to have good research skills and an open mind to new music. You may conduct your interviews in several ways, phone/skype, email or in person. Then transcribed for posting on the Decibel Geek website. So, interested? Please email themeister@decibelgeek.com.

News Item Writer:

While there are many websites reporting rock and metal news we feel that this is something that should be a part of Decibel Geek as well. We are seeking a creative individual or individuals to write news reports for the Decibel Geek website. These reports can come in the form of press releases, social media posts or even other websites. No matter how the inspiration arrives, you must write them not just copy and paste. In some cases, you will need to have the ability to create a 300-word news article out of a band’s simple Facebook post or even a photo. We would be looking to post news articles daily. As a result, this is a time-consuming position and not for the casual writer.  So, sound good? Please email themeister@decibelgeek.com.

Local Events Coverage (Photography/Writers):

Decibel Geek currently recognises a large staff of volunteer contributors in a variety of areas worldwide. We are looking to expand worldwide coverage specifically in areas that we do not already have writers/photographers. If you attend a lot of concerts/events in your area and interested in contributing to the Decibel Geek website, get in touch with The Meister.

Facebook/Social Media:

Are you a social media buff? Love Facebook? We are searching an individual to work with our Decibel Geek Facebook guru. This person is responsible for sharing any and all Decibel Geek website articles (reviews/news/album releases) to our Facebook page and tagging bands and authors. You would also need to share the posts to related Facebook groups and pages to further our reach and reader/listenership. While not intensive, this position will require daily attention. So, interested? Please email themeister@decibelgeek.com.

Album Review Writer:

We receive many albums for review from bands and record companies. The person we seek to do album reviews must be willing to take chances on smaller, possibly completely unknown bands. We will supply you with mp3’s of the albums, all you need to do is listen and write your review! Your written reviews must be a minimum of 300 words and do not always have to be positive even as long as you back up why you didn’t like the album. So, sound like fun? Please email themeister@decibelgeek.com.

Assistant to the Editor:

This position could prove challenging as you will be working directly with The Meister and he’s kind of an asshole. OK, not really, but he is extremely Decibel Geek dedicated, always striving to improve, has high standards and compulsive OCD. You must possess excessive attention to detail, exceptional spelling and grammar and high organisation skills. This position requires an assload of time. Please DO NOT APPLY if you do not have at least a minimum of 2 hours each and every day to spend on Decibel Geek. Interested? Please email themeister@decibelgeek.com.

If you are interested in any of the positions listed above please don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information.
