Progressive metal outfit Halcyon Way from Atlanta Georgia have just signed to AgoniaRecords home of Athiest, Susperia and Enthroned amongst others.
The band who’s influences include artists such as Megadeth, Dream Theater and Testament at the heavier and proggier end and Kings X and Stryper when it comes to vocals and harmonies.
Their last album “Conquer” won many plaudits including being voted “record of the week” by Revolver magazine website and was high in the “Billboards Heatseeker Chart” as a band who hadn’t been in the top 50 but highlight sales by new and developing artists.
This 5 piece comprise of Steve Braun on vocals, Jon Bodan on guitars, backing vocals and programming, Max Eve on rhythm guitar, Skyler Moore on bass and backing vocals and finally Aaron Baumoel on drums. They have toured with artists like Saxon, Sabaton, Queensryche, Fates Warning, Fozzy, Skid Row, U.D.O and Delain. Due to that they have toured in over 20 countries on 4 continents spreading their music and making fans worldwide.
As a band they are ready to get started work on their next album with their brand new label Agonia which they say they are “stoked about” having tested out some new material on their tour with Angra and Operation Mindcrime. According to the band the new songs went down well with “the crowds going ape over them” resulting in a strong desire to record so as to “get the new record in everyone’s hands so we can get out and support it some more”.
“Conquer” was full of hooks and melodies with progressive moments and heavy riffs yet was very song based. With nearly 4 years of more touring and working, time is surely right for a new album from Halcyon Way.
Be sure that when new material is ready Decibel Geek will be there to announce it!
