Last in Line formed in 2012 by former members of the original lineup of Dio.

The band’s name comes from the 1984 Dio album The Last in Line. Following the death of Dio frontman Ronnie James Dio in 2010, the original lineup of drummer Vinny Appice, bassist Jimmy Bain, guitarist Vivian Campbell, and keyboardist Claude Schnell reunited along with vocalist Andrew Freeman to perform the Dio songs they originally recorded. The band released a studio album of original material without Schnell titled Heavy Crown in February 2016.

They recently released the amazing II album, which is a record that shows a maturity of songwriting which is outstanding.

Last In Line rocked the Arcada Theatre (IL) and the amazing Alex Dale was there to photograph the band.

They played an almost two hour show, packed with original material along with a handful of Dio tunes.

Of course they played the Dio tunes that everyone knows, like “Holy Diver” and “Last In Line”, but they also played two new songs “Year Of The Gun” and “Blackout The Sun”.

Oh, I forgot to mention it was also Andrew Freeman’s birthday. They brought a cake out on stage and everything. Andrew also came out into the crowd a few times which is always fun!

If you haven’t seen this band live, you definitely should!
