LOOSE JETS (Bio)

Loose Jets are the band assembled in 2015 of guitarists/vocalists Chad Heye, (formerly of the Needles) and James Sardone (formerly of Brickbat).  The band is rounded out with Chuck Spry on drums/vocals and Chris Bare on bass.

Coming out of North Carolina, their sound is a mixture of 1970’s KISS or Angel with the best of the 1980’s Sunset Strip acts.  It is more diverse than you would first think, but the heart of rock n’roll is held very firmly on their collective sleeves.

This album is their debut long player, which was recorded with engineer Ian Millard (Valient Thorr, Thunderlip, Patrick Carr) at his Dogwood Lane Recording Studio in Wilmington, N.C.

The band’s Press Release for the album makes for interesting reading.  “N.C.’s Loose Jets’ self-titled full-length has ten songs with a mix of vibes beginning to end, led by two singers…creating combustible, swagger-filled songs.”  It is not often that you actually agree with such publicity, but I think they nailed how this album sounds.

The sleazy groove of the songs is a joy to behold.  From the mesmerizing kick off of “Sacred T-Shirt“, it is clear that the band is akin to all your favorite 1980’s rockers.  Furthermore, they fill the sound with tasteful keyboards like Killer Bee is some parts.

However, if that were all that was brought to the party, you would be disappointed.  However, in the case of Loose Jets, these are the different voices that sing leads on the songs.  Both guitarists sing 5 songs each and have different sounds.  This makes the band all the more interesting.

The record is modern, but retains a more retro type of sound that is real rock n’roll.  The best example of this, is the Ace Frehley (circa Dynasty) vibe of “Watch Me Disappear“.

Overall, the album is a great rocker.
