According to an official press release, Canadian thrashers Exciter are on the bill at this year’s Calgary Metalfest on Saturday, September 17th at Flames Central. Presented by Big Nate Productions, the evening is being billed as “A Historic Night of Canadian Metal” as Exciter reunites their original line-up, guitarist John Ricci, vocalist/drums Dan Beehler and bassist Allan James Johnson, for the first time since 1985. This event also marks Exciter’s first Western Canadian performance in over 30 years. In addition, Exciter will be sharing the stage for the first time ever with fellow Canadian thrash pioneers Annihilator, Razor, and Sacrifice.
Exciter guitarist John Ricci comments:
“We are really stoked to participate at the fest with such great bands that came out of Canada and went on to establish themselves as serious contenders in the metal market around the globe. The last time the original line-up played together was the summer of 1985, our last tour together across the USA. When we got back together in 2014, it was like we never broke up, it was like instant musical chemistry!”
Calgary Metalfest is in its fifth annual year and was started in 2012 by Nathan “Nate Reno” Renaud.
The event kicks off on Wednesday, September 14th with a free show at The Ship and Anchor, featuring The Cadaver Dog, W.M.D., IN/Vertigo, Blackbird Electric, and Outlets Band.
Thursday, September 15th at Distortion sees The Exalted Piledriver in their first ever Western Canadian performance with support from Crystal Mess, Savage Streets, Profits of Crime and Accostal.
Friday, September 16th at Dickens Pub, Toxic Holocaust from Portland will headline their first Calgary appearance since 2011 with support by Disciples of Power, The Order Of Chaos, Fornication, Black Pestilence and Concrete Funeral.
