Helix joins an already stellar roster at Sweden Rock including Aerosmith, Running Wild, Scorpions, Warlock, Black Star Riders, Primal Fear, Metal Church, Grave Digger and others with more than 50 bands still left to announce!
Sweden Rock Festival has posted the following announcement on their Facebook page this morning:
HELIX REPLACES Y&T
We regret to inform you that Y&T have canceled their gig at Sweden Rock Festival. The Canadian band Helix will be their replacement on Wednesday, June 7. “Rock You”, off Helix‘s fourth outing Walking the Razor’s Edge (1984), gave the band a hit that made them favorites not least to Swedish metalheads. Their next album Long Way to Heaven (1985) consequently got to #1 in Sweden. Since their heyday, Helix have had to endure many speedbumps but deliver musically to this day on albums like Vagabond Bones (2009) and Bastard of the Blues (2014). Not to mention on stage, an element tailor-made for the band’s straightforward, hook-laden hard rock crowned by Brian Vollmer‘s powerful voice.
Rich “The Meister” Dillon comments: This current lineup of Helix may well be the strongest to date. Having recently seen the band perform aboard the Monsters of Rock Cruise in 2016 all I can say is get ready Sweden! I’ve seen Helix live many, many times, but what this band laid down on the pool stage of that cruise was nothing short of magical and clearly the best show of the boat in my opinion. While I hope all is well in the Y&T camp, I’m very proud to see these Canadian boys step up to “Rock You” at Sweden Rock Festival!
Canadian Decibel Geek staffers Rich “The Meister” Dillon and Shawn “Animalize” Irwin will be on hand to support their fellow countrymen at the festival. Also in attendance will be Swedish Decibel Geek Mikael “The Lionsheart” Svensson, so keep an eye on the Decibel Geek website as this trio bring you full coverage of the 2017 Sweden Rock Festival in June!
