The SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL 2018 Decibel Geek Team

Being a native Swede, staff writer Mikael Svensson has certainly attended before. But since joining the Decibel Geek team, 2018 serves as his fourth outing. Mikael loves melodic rock, AOR, and NWOBHM among others and is always excited to meet and interview some of his musical heroes.

And, in his third appearance, we find Shawn “Animalize” Irwin returning this year. A Canadian extremely passionate about music, Shawn‘s photographs have appeared on band pages, websites, in album sleeves and on promo posters the world over. Since Shawn‘s favorite music genre to write about showcases his love of symphonic metal, he’s our resident expert.

Last year the Decibel Geek team virgin lay in “Rockin’ Ron” Runyon, but he’s ready for round two! Hailing from Colorado, big Ron had never before left the USA. So this venture proved to be a big eye opener into a world of wonder for Decibel Geek‘s Youtube channel guru and videographer. Consequently, you can be sure Ron will be doing his best to capture performances all over Sweden Rock.

Last but not least is our fearless leader! Having covered the festival the past five years in the form of daily event blogs, Rich often proclaims Sweden Rock the best festival anywhere on land. A massive music fan, running Decibel Geek‘s website and 40+ contributors as well as writing his own album/concert/interviews. In addition, he is also the co-host of the CGCM Podcast. NWOBHM, power metal, hard rock, traditional metal, and sleaze/glam are all especially relevant genres.
