Part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement Raven achieved a hit with their song “On And On” from their 1985 release Stay Hard. The band, formed by brothers John and Mark Gallagher, has been in existence since about 1974 and have issued twelve albums to date, the latest being Walk Through Fire in 2009. They describe their music as “athletic rock” and began wearing guards, helmets, and plates from various sports (hockey, baseball, etc.), and incorporating them into the playing of their instruments (for instance, elbow pads and hockey masks were used to strike cymbals). Raven is back on April 28, 2015 with a brand new studio effort, ExtermiNation, via Steamhammer/SPV.
