WEDNESDAY 13 – Condolences (Album Review)

Wednesday 13Wednesday 13 returns with a vengeance with his seventh studio album Condolences out now on Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Complete with heavy-hitting riffs, blasting drum beats, and crushing vocals, this album is sure to gain some new fans in the realm of heavy metal. The album is full of crunchy, fast-paced riffs, yet contains a lot of diversity in the song writing. My favourite song by far on the album is “Omen, Amen“, with it’s catchy, rocking riffs and powerful vocals. The next track, “Cruel To You“, takes a bit of a different turn and seems to even have some hard rock elements in the progression of the song, yet still maintains the overall dark theme of the album.

Of particular interest is the single “Condolences“, which proves that silence can be just as powerful as musical notes. Complete with an accompanying music video, the track deals with the subject of death, adding to the eerie tones of the album. Although most of the songs on the album are in-your-face metal songs, the album finishes with a beautiful yet somber balled, “Death Infinity“. Overall, this album is definitely worth a listen for new and old fans alike!
