A Christmas Recipe for the MetalHead/Rawker to Get Through the Holidays
I like Christmas music. A lot. Almost every style too including country music renditions. That hurts to admit but a guilty pleasure it is. I like listening to Christmas music so much that I often listen all year round! Since CableTV/Satellite providers introduced that fireplace channel with Christmas music, well I have been hooked. Even though we have a real fireplace! ‘Tis the season for a strange addiction; to be known only as heavy metal Christmas music. Oh yes, such music exists, for quite some time now and here I will introduce you to or perhaps remind you of some fine holiday music done in the thrashing and rawking sensibility.
Before the recipes, we need to set the mood with music, of course, so here is my Christmas & Holiday survival guide for us rockers that certainly venture outside the norm of traditional!
My very favourite song for the season: “Merry Christmas, I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight”: The Ramones
After starting with that, listen in whatever order you wish to these CD’s:
Helix: A Heavy Mental Christmas
Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Christmas Eve and Other Stories, The Christmas Attic, The Lost Christmas Eve
Twister Sister: A Twisted Christmas
Gary Hoey: Ho! Ho! Hoey 1,2 & 3
Various Artists: (Alice, Lemmy, Ronny & more) We Wish You A Metal Xmas and a Headbanging New Year
Various Artists (Jeff Beck, Satch, Vai & more) Merry Axemas A Guitar Christmas
Various Artists (Nugent, Zakk, Steve Stevens & more) Merry Axemas Vol. 2
’63 Monroe: Christmas Time Stand in Line
Bobnoxious: Ho Ho Ho
& last but not least always have some Alvin & The Chipmunks Christmas music at hand. Those rodents rawk!
Recipes
The recipe: Egg Nog & Rum. Simple. Don’t go light on me with regard to the Egg Nog, nor the Rum. Make it dark/spiced rum, thick Nog and 2 parts equal. Feel free to throw in some nutmeg and cinnamon, maybe some ice or not, your call.
The non-booze recipe: Make yourself an Egg Nog latte! If you don’t have a machine that makes lattes you can still do it, just whisk the Nog as it warms on the stove in a small pot. Please, coffee snobs don’t take offense to this as a self-admitted coffee snob I have no issue doing this, even though I do own a Breville machine. Keep it fun!
