Shawn Franklin joins the guys this week to discuss his continuing involvement with Anthrax; this time for the 1988 classic State of Euphoria! This thrashterpiece was released on September 19, 1988 and helped cement Anthrax’s place in The Big 4. With killer tracks like Be All End All, Who Cares Wins, Misery Loves Company, and the single Antisocial, State of Euphoria reached No.30 on the Billboard charts and would be certified Gold a year later.

State of Euphoria

Shawn Franklin, as you’ll also hear in our past Albums Unleashed for Spreading the Disease, has been given the enviable task of sifting through drummer Charlie Benante‘s Anthrax audio archive. In this 30th Anniversary deluxe edition of State of Euphoria you’re getting some incredible material. Disc 1 features a remastered version of the studio album as well as bonus material recorded during the sessions. Disc 2 features Charlie’s Archive; tapes from the man himself that Shawn worked on. He painstakingly assembled the best parts of the tapes to give you, the listener, an audio evolution of the songs on the album. From idea tapes to rehearsals to recording to final mix, you’ll get a backstage pass to Anthrax in the late 80’s as they put State of Euphoria together.

We appreciate Shawn Franklin joining us this week and encourage you to purchase the new 30th Anniversary Deluxe edition of Anthrax State of Euphoria!
