Bloodstock Metal Festival have added 4 more bands to the event happening at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, UK, in August next year.
First up is special guests for Friday on the main stage known as the Dio Stage is the mighty Anthrax. One of the big 4 of thrash they will no doubt get the audience moshing and thrashing away to some unforgettable songs. They have graced the stage before and are always a popular choice with the Bloodstock crowd. They are starting on a new album early in the year so who knows there might be a chance to hear something brand new as well.
Special guests on Saturday night on the Dio Stage will be Norwegian black metal outfit Dimmu Borgir who haven’t played the festival for 5 years. Last year they released their latest album (first for 8 years) in Eonian (which was reviewed quite favorably by this reviewer at Decibel Geek, read it here) so this will be many folks first chance in the UK to hear those songs played live.
Also added on the Dio Stage for Saturday are Australian “deathcore” band Thy Art Is Murder. They have 4 albums out, their most recent being Dear Desolation. They also released a track in November called “Death Perception”. Reading up (as they are not a band this reviewer had heard of) they stirred up some controversy in the past due to the subject nature and especially the artwork of an album called Holy War which certainly has a memorable video!
Finally, British progressive metal outfit Tesseract are added to the bill for Friday on the Dio Stage. It has been a long time since they were at Bloodstock, in fact, 2008 was the last time when they played the second stage (when it was called Scuzz stage). The band has evolved through the years although since the first album but the line up has not changed much. Vocally there are fewer growls than the early days but the music is still interesting and challenging.
These are added to previous announcements such as Sabaton, Scorpions, Children Of Bodom, Dee Snider, Death Angel, Grand Magus and Queensryche amongst others.
The festival takes place from August 8 to 11.
