In what is becoming a regular ritual, Bloodstock Metal Fest have announced another four bands for the festival to be held at Catton Hall Derbyshire England in August this year.
Two of the bands named are “Special Guests” between the two stages and the other two are slightly lower down the bill.
First up are Swedish melodic death metal outfit At The Gates, who are “Special Guests” on the Ronnie James Dio stage on Sunday, backing up headliners Nightwish. It will have been seven years since they last played at Bloodstock, having last been in 2011 (and previous to that 2008), so there will be (by then) two albums’ worth of fresh material for them to play; from “At War With Reality” (2014) and the new album due out in May this year (“To Drink From The Night Itself”).
Announced as “Special Guest” for Saturday night on the Sophie Lancaster stage to Orphaned Land are New Orleans thrash metallers Exhorder. Reunited after a six year break, original members Kyle Thomas (vocals) and Vinnie Labella (guitar) are heading over to the UK with their brand of groove punky thrash giving as much nod to Slayer or Suicidal Tendencies as to Pantera, to whom they are often likened. Expect “Slaughter in” the tent if not “The Vatican!”
Sangre from California play the Sophie tent on the Friday. A band that have been going for over 15 years and seem to have supported everyone Metal wise (from Motorhead, Slipknot, Seputura to Black Dahlia Murder and Gojira and many more). They have a sound that suits their name, which from the Spanish means “Blood”.
Finally in this series of four comes Weight Of The Tide, who are due on the Sophie stage on the Saturday. From Reno Nevada they blast out a sludgy metal sound, but with a keen ear for melody, especially vocally in places, with 2 voices in harmony.
Bloodstock Metal Festival takes place the weekend of August 9 – 12 and also features Judas Priest, Wednesday 13, Doro, Watain and Mr Big amongst others.
