Bloodstock 2019 Latest Poster

For the start of 2019, Bloodstock Metal Festival have announced four more bands for the event in August at Catton Hall In Derbyshire. Being very much an international festival the bands announced are from the USA, Finland and Germany! 3 of the bands are for the main stage Friday (known as the Dio Stage) and one for Saturday also on the Dio.

First up are German power metal outfit Powerwolf. This Decibel Geek approved band (check out this review of the Berlin show last year… Review) are going to be the “special guests” on the Friday to mainstage headliner Sabaton. Hopefully, by being on the main stage and outside, they will be able to throw their full show out with backdrops, with fire and flames galore! Their latest album The Sacrament Of Sin is chockablock with anthemic songs which can be joined in very easily so expect plenty of crowd participation.

Also on the Friday are Soulfly. The group led by ex Sepultura man Max Cavalera cover a number of basis style wise mixing up metal and groove with tribal sounds. Their latest album (their eleventh) Ritual came out late last year and Max has said they plan to play “a lot of songs from it” as they are really proud of it. The band also of course feature his son Zylon on drums making it a bit of a family affair.

Talking of it being a family affair also on Friday Max also has his other son playing in his band Incite. Max has called this year the “Cavalera Invasion” and so it seems. They are the band to open the main stage for the festival. They have been around for 15 years and their new album Built To Destroy is due out later this month. You can check out the title track on you tube at the bottom of this article.

Finally for Saturday come Finnish progressive doom outfit Swallow The Sun. They have a new album coming out also later this month called When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light which they released a track from late last year. Dark and haunting, this should be quite something to hear live.

These announcements follow on and add to the bill which also features Anthrax, Dimmu Borgir, Children Of Bodom, Dee Snider, Grand Magus, Queensryche and Scorpions.

Bloodstock will be held August 8 – 11 at Catton Hall Derbyshire England.
