Swedish rockers Bonafide are set to return in the new year with their latest album entitled Flame.

Slated for release on February 24, 2017, on Off Yer Rocka Records the album already boasts a new single, “Smoke and Fire”.

Bonafide was formed by singer/guitarist Pontus Snibb in Malmö, southern Sweden, in 2006. After a couple of line-up changes, the band now consists of fellow guitar player Anders Rosell, drummer Niklas Matsson, and bass player Martin Ekelund.

Their mission; to play hard rock the way it’s supposed to be played: True to its roots in the electric blues and early R´n´B.

Snibb had played blues and rock for several years. He toured and made records with bands such as Mescaleros, SNiBB, and Buckaroos and played with Swedish folk rock artist Mikael Wiehe. He was also the drummer for American country-punk band Jason & the Scorchers when he decided to go in a classic hard rock direction with his next project.

The debut album Bonafide was recorded in his home studio together with bass player at the time Micke Nilsson and caught the interest of former Sweden Rock Festival and Sweden Rock Records head Michael Ivarsson. After the addition of guitarist Mikael Fässberg and drummer Sticky Bomb, a revised version with a few new songs was released in October 2007.

In January 2009, Bonafide started recording the follow-up album, Something’s Dripping, with producer Chips Kiesbye which upon release made it to the 16th position on the Swedish album charts. The album was followed by the band’s first European tour, supporting all-female metal band Crucified Barbara, for 35 shows all over the continent.

Drummer Sticky Bomb was replaced for a tour of Spain in the spring of 2010 by Matsson who became a permanent member later in the year.

Original bass player Micke Nilsson quit the band in the fall of 2011 and was replaced by Martin Ekelund who made his recording debut during 2012 on the third full-length album, Ultimate Rebel, recorded during February at Gig Studios in Stockholm with engineer Conny Wall.

Two further albums ensued in Bombo (2013) and Denim Devils (2015) both of which were supported by extensive touring.

Bonafide are out again on tour in 2017, check their website for details and make sure you pay them a visit.
