Speaking with the Cobras & Fire Podcast, Danko Jones spoke about the difficulties of being in a straight up Hard Rock artist versus a Metal artist.  At the 51:28 mark he says:

“Being in a metal band or a punk band even an indie rock band whatever that is. There’s an infrastructure behind that.  There’s a scene and a community that helps support it.  Or at least puts you in the right context.   And when you’re put in the right context you automatically get, if not a fanbase, a certain amount of curious listeners.  Whereas a rock band.  There is no community in hard rock music the way there is in metal and punk.  There’s no community.  There’s no infrastructure.  There’s no websites dedicated to it.  There‘s no festivals dedicated to it.  It’s simply like the token rock band on a festival.”

Danko Jones is set to release the album A Rock Supreme on April 26th on M Theory Audio.  Produced by Garth “Gggarth” Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Rise Against, Biffy Clyro), A Rock Supreme will be released April 26 via M-Theory Audio (U.S.), Rise Above (UK), Indica (Canada, AU, NZ) and AFM (rest of the world). The group’s best-known material includes “Had Enough,” which earned the group their first gold and platinum singles in Sweden and has racked up more than 14 million Spotify streams; “Gonna Be A Fight Tonight,” which WWE used as the official theme song of the 2015 Royal Rumble; and “Lovercall,” their first of seven singles to crack the U.S. Active Rock Top 40.
