20150811_195604_50I recently had a chance to spend a few minutes with Kobra Paige from Kobra and the Lotus prior to their headlining show in Phoenix, AZ. If you haven’t heard of this band out of Canada then you definitely should. The band have just released their second major label record, an EP of covers titled Words of the Prophets. The EP follows up their critically acclaimed 2014 full-length album, High Priestess.

My first introduction to Kobra and the Lotus was in 2014 when they opened for KISS and Def Leppard here in America. They were amazing. It had been a long time since an opening band I was unfamiliar with blow me away like that. Needless to say, I was excited for the opportunity to spend a few minutes with Kobra for Decibel Geek. She was both gracious and generous with her time. We talk about her musical background, the sonic evolution of the band and the success of High Priestess, as well as the decision to release a covers EP. We also discuss how the band ended up on Gene Simmons‘ record label, what it was like to tour with KISS and Def Leppard, and what the future holds for Kobra and the LotusHigh Priestess.

20150817_085113KATL are a phenomenal live band as well. Definitely recommend checking them out if you get a chance. Phoenix setlist below.
