Hey there, and a very Happy KISSmas in July! Just in case you’ve wandered in here by mistake, KISS is a huge band, commanding a huge and devoted following. Most fans have favourite eras and line-ups and enjoy them regardless but for some arguing about who & what is best seems to take up most of their time. Personally, I just like the music, and the performance, in and of itself, no matter what era or line-up.
It’s all Rawk N Roll to me.
So, channelling the great Matt Porter from The Kiss Room, I’m keeping it positive and showing my unashamed appreciation of the members who made KISS what it was, and is, and will always be.

Probably one of rock’s best frontmen ever; a frontman who not only knocks it out of the park vocally but plays a mean guitar at the same time. Founding member Paul Stanley is unarguably the driving force behind KISS and the main reason the band made it through the 1980’s, let alone still be selling out stadiums forty years later. What better way to round off Keepin’ it Positive for KISSmas than with the man who is walking proof that positive thinking and hard work do win out…well, that coupled with a huge amount of talent.

My favourite Paul Stanley moment is his co-write with Vini Poncia from the Dynasty album, “Sure Know Something” (what can I say, I’m a sucker for this song) and although in this series I’ve stuck to studio-album tracks, I think the Unplugged version would be a nice way to cap off this KISSmas in July. It’s an awesome version of the song and just a joy to hear Paul’s kick-ass vocals soar over the brilliant acoustic arrangement. So sit back and enjoy the band enjoying playing; isn’t that what it’s all about..?

Stay positive, Starchild!

Enjoy!
