MYMISSES – Biomymisses_straight_on_my_way

Mymisses is an hard rock/alternative metal band from Cagliari (Italy).

Stefania Cugia (bassist) and Marta Camba (drummer) formed the group initially in 2015 and envisaged a wholly female hard rock band. The pair then approached Laura Sau (guitarist) and Giorgia Pillai (singer) to complete the line up.

The band made its live debut at “Women In Rock”.  This was a big music event in Cagliari in January 2016. Mymisses played some hard rock/alternative metal covers by bands such as System Of A Down.

Mymisses then continued to gig around the whole of Sardinia, including open air shows, club dates and also participating in numerous regional festivals, including Rock’n’Beer Ichnusa.

In July 2017, the was chosen as the opening act for historic metal band Venom Inc in Thiesi (SS).

MYMISSES – Straight On My Way

Mymisses went into the studio to record their debut album in 2017, which was co-produced with RAW (Riccardo Atzeni Workbench) and mixed and mastered at the Electric Storm Studio of the sound engineer Piergiorgio Boi .

mymisses_bandI had not heard anything by the band, until The Meister (The Boss) once again handed me a copy of the record to review.  I listened through the songs a fair number of times and realised that the band were excellent!  They have a style which is pretty original in its delivery and the energy is enough to light up cities the size of New York.

The curtain opens on this fantastic record with the brutal opening growl of “War Cry“, which has a System Of A Down feel.  The singer  Giorgia Pillai has a cracking voice, with great conviction and range.   Their sound blends so much great music into a unique drink, it is so refreshing.

The guitar playing is so good as well and guitarist Laura Sau is a great talent.  She is rock solid on this record – not flashy, but plays with an amazing groove.

Furthermore, there are many gems on this seven track record, but my favorites are “Face The Fear” and “Be Bad“, both of which are short, sharp and lean.

Final Thoughts

To conclude, what’s not to like?  A very talented, young band with great songs and a bright future.  I look forward to see if their touring gets to the UK as it would be cool to see them live.
