Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler returned to the band’s drum throne last night at the GNR tour stop in Cincinnati. After a quick, nonchalant intro from Axl Rose (“On the drums, you might know this guy; ladies and gentleman, Mr. Steven Adler”), the drummer was greeted with loud applause from a relatively shocked audience. From there, the band segued into two songs from the iconic Appetite for Destruction album (Out Ta Get Me and My Michelle). Adler was all smiles during the performance and the band seemed energized by his appearance.

This marks Adler‘s first live appearance with GNR since 1990 when he was ousted from the band for substance abuse problems. In the ensuing years, he’s been the most vocal member in favor of a GNR reunion. The question, now, is whether this guest spot was a one-off or if GNR have plans of using Adler for the rest of the tour in a more expanded role. We may find out more this weekend as the band is set to perform at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN as it continues its Not In This Lifetime tour.

Decibel Geek contributor Josh Morgeson was in Cincinnati for the show and was able to capture the video below of Adler‘s intro and the performance of Out Ta Get Me.
