On a personal level, 2018 was possibly the best year of my life. I made it to New York City for the first time.  My step-daughter, whose hand I used to hold as we crossed the street, got married.  The podcast I host called Cobras & Fire allowed me to talk to many of the idols of my youth like Bruce Kulick, K.K. Downing and Jake E Lee.  I got hammered on a bar patio in Nashville with Ron Keel.    And the Ancestry DNA kit I got for Christmas last year resulted in me finding my biological mother.  Pretty amazing year.  It will be hard to top.

Musically, eh. Not that bad.  There were a couple of disappointing releases from Wilson and Red Sun RisingThe Bulletboys followed up their killer record Elephante with the decent, but not great, record From Out Of The Skies.  But there were also some flat out all killer no filler releases as well.  Them Evils offered some hope for the future of Rock with the release of Rollin’ Stoned and Livin’ Free.  The new record from Ghost, Prequelle, is probably their best record since their debut.  But nothing got me cranking to volume and rolling the windows down on the Bakkruizer more than the return of Canada’s Monster Truck with True Rockers.  If there was a record I listened to more it would have to be my own band Jesus Chrysler.  We finally released our record …Deny It All Later in July.  A record I am quite proud of and believe it holds its own in this rock n roll world.

If any of these records missed you this year. Give em a spin.  And fingers crossed for 2019.  Peace.
